Former IU basketball guard Devonte Green signs deal to play in Greece

Devonte Green is heading overseas to begin his professional basketball career.

The four year Indiana guard has signed a contract with Charilaos Trikoupis BC of the Greece A1 League.

Playing in Greece’s first division, Trikoupis BC is based in the city of Missolonghi.

Green will arrive in Greece at a unique time.  Like the NBA, European teams shut down during the pandemic, with many struggling financially as a result.

Terms of Green’s contract were not disclosed.

Despite starting just 31 games during his time at IU, Green finished 55th in career scoring at IU with 954 points, tied for 12th all-time with 164 three-pointers, and 10th in career three-point attempts with 435.

For his career in Bloomington Green averaged 8 points per game while shooting 38.5 percent from the field and 37.7 percent from behind the arc.

It had been reported that Green was receiving interest from NBA teams but he was not invited to the league’s draft combine.

Green signed with Roc Nation Sports agency in May.
