Class of 2019 Five-Star Point Guard D.J. Carton Trims List to Three

Bettendorf Iowa’s D.J. Carton has narrowed his list down to three teams.  The class of 2019 five-star point guard made the announcement on Sunday evening via Twitter:

The key word from his tweet appears to be “final.”  After rumors and speculation about other programs entering the mix such as Duke, North Carolina and Kansas, it appears that Carton has eliminated new suitors and will focus on his final three teams: Indiana, Michigan and Ohio State.

Carton had previously released a top six in May that also included Marquette, Xavier, and Iowa.  Today’s announcement is major disappointment to Iowa fans as they will apparently see one of the better in-state Iowa players in recent memory go to college at another Big Ten school.

After being a relative unknown at this time last year, Carton’s profile has skyrocketed since.  He received his first high-major offer from Marquette in the summer of 2017, and since then has received multiple additional high profile offers.

Carton recently completed official visits last month to Michigan and Indiana, and also completed a two-day unofficial visit to Ohio State.  Rivals’ Corey Evans indicated via Twitter on Sunday night that Carton has an official visit scheduled with Ohio State.

According to a 247Sports report ($), Carton is planning to make a decision in the next couple weeks.
