Veteran pitchers Cole Gilley and Ben Grable were selected in the 10th and 11th rounds respectively on Monday (July 14) afternoon to wrap up the 2025 MLB Draft for IU baseball. In total, four Hoosiers and two Indiana signees were selected among the 615 overall picks in this year’s proceedings. Previously, outfielders Devin Taylor and Korbyn Dickerson were chosen in the second and fifth rounds, respectively. Indiana has announced a date for the debut of the new Hoosier the Bison mascot. Hoosier the Bison will make its first public appearance at the IU football home opener on Aug. 30. Indiana faces Old Dominion at 2:30 p.m. ET at Memorial Stadium. Indiana outfielder Korbyn Dickerson was chosen in the fifth round of the 2025 MLB Draft Monday by the Seattle Mariners. Perhaps no Big Ten player saw their draft stock rise higher during the 2025 season than the Indiana redshirt sophomore. After playing sparingly at Louisville during his first two seasons of college baseball, Dickerson transferred to Indiana for the 2025 campaign and enjoyed one of the best breakout years that the program has ever seen. Indiana’s Devin Taylor became the highest-drafted outfielder in program history on Sunday evening. He was selected 48th overall by the Oakland Athletics in the second round of the 2025 MLB First Year Player Draft. Taylor is also the highest-drafted player in the coaching career of head coach Jeff Mercer. The veteran outfielder is also the seventh-highest selected player in program history during the summer MLB Draft era (since 1965). The Big Ten Network released a condensed one-hour replay of Indiana’s emotional 2007 win over Purdue. Indiana gave away a 24-3 lead, but Kicker Austin Starr made a 49-yard field goal in the final minute to clinch the win. The class of 2027 has a pair of in-state prospects firmly on the IU basketball radar. The new Indiana staff has offered both 6-foot-1 Jason Gardner, Jr. (Fishers, Ind., Fishers H.S.) and 6-foot-10 Isaiah Hill (Indianapolis, Ind., Pike H.S.).  Both players are 4-stars and well inside the national top-100 in the rising junior class. When it comes to IU football in the Curt Cignetti era, former college All-American, NFL linebacker and long-time ESPN analyst David Pollack is a believer.
