And the health of a former Hoosiers star might end up playing a key role in the Eastern Conference Semifinals series involving the two NBA franchises. With the Knicks up 2-0 in the series, OG Anunoby missed Game 3, and his absence helped the Pacers pull to within 2-1 on Friday evening in Indianapolis. Nebraska saw enough theatrics from Indiana on the diamond for one day. In total, IU softball and baseball combined for 13 runs in their final at bats in a pair of dramatic wins over the Cornhuskers. And both Hoosier wins have significant postseason and conference championship implications. Former IU coach Tom Crean was known for rigorous and unpredictable practices. At least in the case of one 5-star prospect, it may have cost him a recruit while he was head coach at Indiana. Theo Pinson was from North Carolina and was always going to be hard to pull out of the Tar Heel State. Former IU basketball long-range sniper Devonte Green will be part of the IU basketball themed The Basketball Tournament (TBT) squad this summer, it was announced on Friday. He is the fourth known player on the team. Troy Williams, Juwan Morgan and Miller Kopp were the three players first announced as part of the “Assembly Ball” IU team in the annual summer event.  Christian Watford is expected to have a role as well. Indiana will get a second visit from a quarterback multiple outlets say is the best in the 2025 class. And this time he’ll take a more extensive look at Curt Cignetti’s program. Multiple reports indicate Carrollton, Ga. based signal-caller Julian Lewis will take an official visit Indiana beginning on May 31. Lewis previously visited IU over the winter after Cignetti was hired. “Indiana is building something special. On Wednesday, Marian Director of Athletics Steve Downing officially announced the hiring of Pat Knight as the next Marian men’s basketball head coach. Knight, the son of legendary coach Bob Knight, is the 10th head coach in program history. Kory Barnett is capitalizing on an opportunity out of high school to be a walk-on player at Indiana. New West Virginia coach Darian DeVries announced the hiring of Barnett as assistant coach for the Mountaineers. Barnett joins the Mountaineer basketball after spending the last five seasons at Nevada and six seasons at UCLA, working for former IU star Steve Alford at both places. Everyone knows by now, Indiana has made some major additions via the transfer portal this offseason. So far the Hoosiers have added Oumar Ballo (Arizona), Myles Rice (Washington State), Kanaan Carlyle (Stanford) and Luke Goode (Illinois).  All four project to be major contributors next season for an IU squad now routinely appearing in preseason top-25 projections. Multiple outlets say that talent influx is among the best in the nation. But what about the net effect of the transfer portal on the IU roster?
