Three former IU basketball players are on NBA G League rosters as play begins Friday evening. Trey Galloway is with the Santa Cruz Warriors, Luke Goode is with the South Bay Lakers, and Miller Kopp is with the Cleveland Charge. Galloway played five seasons at IU and broke the program record with 140 games played.  He finished seventh in program history in career assists (433) and 55th in team history in scoring (1,020). There was plenty to like about Indiana’s season-opening 98-51 win over Alabama A&M Wednesday evening in Bloomington.  The Hoosiers were elite on both ends ends of the floor against a team they should have dominated. Indiana’s first-ever trip to Beaver Stadium in 1993 might have been their best chance to beat Penn State in the mammoth 100,000-plus seat venue. UPDATE:  IU coach Darian DeVries said on pregame radio Nick Dorn won’t be available tonight. IU basketball will be shorthanded to open the 2025-26 season, but there won’t be any surprises. Guards Jason Drake and Aleksa Ristic, and forward Josh Harris are listed as out for the first game of the Darian DeVries era. As we get set to embark on the 2025-26 season, Indiana basketball has a bunch of veteran players.  IU is the only program to bring in at least 10 transfers with 30-plus collegiate starts. And the Hoosiers have a proven veteran coach.  Through seven seasons as an NCAA Division I head coach, Darian DeVries holds a career record of 169-68 and ranks sixth among active head coaches in Division I winning percentage with at least 100 wins.
