It was a run so epic, it might just have tripped a curse-wire somewhere in the mystical land of the basketball gods. With 9:05 left in the first half, Michigan’s Duncan Robinson connected on a 3-pointer off an assist from Derrick Walton, Jr. to put the Wolverines up 24-20 against Indiana on Feb. 2, 2016 at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor. To that point in the 2015-16 season, there were questions about first place IU’s strength of schedule. They were seemingly answered over the next ten minutes of game clock time. From a Thomas Bryant layup with 8:43 left…

According to multiple reports, Indiana will hire former Dallas Cowboys wide receivers coach Adam Henry to fill their opening at the same spot. Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports reported the news first. Henry spent the past two seasons as the receivers coach for the Cowboys. The team reportedly offered him a new deal following the 2021 season, but Henry declined. His coaching career has been highlighted by work with Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry…
A week ago Race Thompson stood on the Branch McCracken Court next to his parents and a framed No. 25 jersey. He struggled to get through an emotional Senior Night speech in front of his teammates and the fans who remained after a difficult loss to Rutgers. The moment had all the hallmarks of a goodbye, one that has played had for decades on Senior Night at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. But like all six seniors on the IU roster, Thompson still has a year of eligibility remaining due to the extra year granted by the NCAA in connection with…
For the second time in an excruciating more than three-year journey, Victor Oladipo returned to an NBA court on Monday. The former IU star made his season debut for the Miami Heat almost 11 months after he last made an appearance in the league. Oladipo finished with 11 points and four assists against the Rockets. His first noteworthy play was of all things, the sacrifice of his body to take a charge. After he made a layup in the third quarter, the home Miami crowd started a chant he once heard in Bloomington — “O-LA-DI-PO.” “It was a great feeling.…

Indiana lost a key member of its class of 2022 this week. 4-star running back Gi’Bran Payne announced on his social media accounts he has been granted a release from his national letter of intent with Indiana, and has reopened his recruitment. Earlier this year former IU running backs coach Deland McCullough announced he was leaving the program to take the same position at Notre Dame. That may have played a role in Payne’s decision. “As a person (and athlete), I thrive and prosper off of communication and genuine relationships,” Payne wrote in his statement announcing the release. “With that…
