State of Indiana College Basketball Power Rankings (02/19/2018)

In 49 states, it’s just a game.  In the state of Indiana, we need our own power rankings.  Every week we’ll help settle the ongoing debate regarding who are the best college basketball teams in the state of Indiana.

Here are the state of Indiana NCAA Division 1 men’s college basketball power rankings for the week ended February 18, 2018:

Current Indiana teams in Joe Lunardi’s Bracketology:  Purdue (2), Butler (7).

    1. Purdue Boilermakers (24-5, 13-3) (B1G) – Things got worse before they got better with Vincent Edwards missing time due to an ankle injury, but Purdue still snapped its 3 game losing streak vs. Penn State.

    2.  Butler Bulldogs (18-10, 8-7) (Big East) – A split on the week including a bad loss to Georgetown and yet they still moved up in Lunardi’s bracketology.  They could be moving down soon here.

    3. Indiana Hoosiers (16-12, 9-7) (B1G) – Two more wins on the week as the Hoosiers assure themselves of at least .500 in the Big Ten.

    4. Ball State Cardinals (18-9, 9-5) (MAC) – Make it 4 in a row and 6 of 7 as the Cardinals try to make a run at the MAC West.

    5. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (16-11, 6-8) (ACC) – A split on the week.  They have some winnable games coming up and possibly Bonzie Colson returning.  Can the Irish make a late run?

    6. Fort Wayne Mastodons (18-12, 7-6) (Summit) – A good bounce back week with two wins albeit against bottom half Horizon teams.

    7. Evansville Purple Aces (16-13, 6-10) (MVC) – Suddenly a three game slide and the Aces are reeling after looking like they had turned a corner.

    8. Valparaiso Crusaders (14-15, 5-11) (MVC) – A nice win over Bradley and they hung tough with conference leader Loyola Chicago.  The Crusaders are playing better basketball lately.

    9. Indiana State Sycamores (11-17, 6-10) (MVC) – Another week, and two more losses.  The Sycamores are losers of 7 of 8 overall and are on watch for last place here.

    10. IUPUI Jaguars (10-17, 7-9) (Horizon)- A decent week with 2 wins over Oakland and Milwaukee.  They have a chance to get out of the cellar.
