A major factor in the emergence of the Indiana football program is moving on for greener pastures according to multiple reports.

Making things sting even worse, it is an IU alum that is abandoning the team.

Director of Athletic Performance David Ballou will become the strength coach at Alabama according to multiple reports, and High Performance Coordinator Matt Rhea is going with him according to the reports.

Ballou was in his third season as Indiana football’s director of athletic performance and was cited regularly by recruits as a key reason why they chose Indiana.

A former IU fullback, Ballou lettered in 1997, 1998 and 1999, and was recognized as the Hoosier Strength Challenge Champion.

Ballou was give a significant pay raise last year, but it wasn’t enough to keep him in Bloomington.

    Ballou’s salary jumped from $216,000 to $400,000, while Rhea’s increased from $150,000 to $375,000.
