Indiana has made a massive addition to the 2025 roster.

    Literally and figuratively.

6-foot-5 and 310-pound Notre Dame starting center Pat Coogan announced today he will play for Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers in 2025.

Coogan entered the transfer portal following Notre Dame’s appearance in the national championship game, and visited Indiana this week.  He picked IU over Ole Miss, Michigan, and others.

Behind Coogan, Notre Dame finished the 2024 season 19th in the nation with more than 200 yards per game rushing.

Per PFF, Coogan played 813 snaps this season and was the team’s second highest-graded pass-blocker with a grade of 79.0 on the season. He had a 69.0 grade in run-blocking.  Both grades were improvements over 2023.

Coogan brings versatility to the interior of the IU offensive line.  He started 13 games at guard for Notre Dame in 2023 and has played in 30 career games.  He played 769 total snaps in 2023 and posted 64.7 pass blocking and 65.2 run blocking grades.

Coogan has one-year of eligibility remaining.

A product of Palos Heights, Ill., Coogan attended Marist H.S.

Coogan was a consensus three-star recruit by 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals coming out of high school.  He was the the No. 38 offensive guard nationally and No. 6 player from Illinois by Rivals.  And he was the No. 29 offensive tackle nationally and No. 15 player from Illinois by 247Sports.

Indiana previously added Ohio State tackle Zen Michalski and Colorado boomerang transfer Kahlil Benson at offensive line via the transfer portal over the last month.  Returning are guard Drew Evans, who started nine games before an Achilles injury, and 13-game starters tackle Carter Smith and guard Bray Lynch.

The Hoosiers lost center Mike Katic and tackle Trey Wedig to eligibility following the 2024 season.
