Nickel picked up the IU offer during a phone conversation with head coach Archie Miller on Monday.

A prolific scorer, Nickel averaged 26.7 points per game for the 2019-20 season and added 7.8 rebounds.

The 6-foot-8 Nickel earned First Team All-State honors in Virginia while helping guide East Rockingham High School to an appearance in the state semifinals.

Nickel’s 1,464 career points is the most ever by a boys basketball player through their sophomore year in Virginia High School League history.

A four-star recruit, Nickel is ranked No. 66 nationally according to the 247Sports Composite.

On film Nickel shows a very high skill level for his size.  He has the athleticism, ball handling and shot-making ability to play on the wing at the high major level.

For AAU Nickel plays for Team Loaded on the Adidas circuit.

Indiana joins an offer list that includes Appalachian State, James Madison, Old Dominion, Clemson, NC State, LSU, Virginia Tech, Penn State, VCU, Richmond, Wake Forest, and Iowa.
