Indiana went back to former star Juwan Morgan’s home state and AAU program for its latest scholarship offer.

St. Louis, Missouri based class of 2022 forward Tarris Reed, Jr. announced an offer from IU on Monday night.

Reed included a photo of Morgan when he made the announcement on his Twitter page.

    — Tarris”Big Hoss” Reed Jr. (@TarrisReedJr) October 27, 2020

The 6-foot-9 Reed averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds per game as a sophomore at Chaminade High School.

A highly efficient scorer inside and out, Reed shot 60 percent from the field overall including 47 percent from three-point range.  He also made 75 percent of his free throw attempts.

Reed was selected All-State for Missouri Class 5 as he helped lead Chaminade to the final four of the state tournament.

For AAU basketball Reed plays for the Missouri based Mokan Elite program on the Nike EYBL circuit.

Reed is highly skilled for his size and age, showing good ball handling skills, an effective perimeter shot and confidence with his off hand.  Physically he already has a strong frame with above average length and athleticism.  Listed as a power forward, Reed definitely appears to fit the modern, stretch-four description.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Reed is a four-star prospect and the No. 90 overall player in the class of 2022.  Based on that same service, Reed is the No. 17 power forward and the No. 1 player in Missouri.

Indiana joins several high major programs that have offered Reed including Creighton, Florida, Iowa, Kansas State, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio State and Xavier.
