IU basketball recruiting: Class of 2021 names to know — Sean Durugordon

Indiana is intent on rounding out the 2021 class with versatile, long athletes in the shooting guard through power forward roles.’

An under the radar player that IU has been tracking over the last few months is New York based wing Sean Durugordon.

A versatile 6-foot-6 talent with a 7-foot wingspan, Durugordon averaged a double-double at Canterbury School last year with 23 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. He led his team to a 25-2 record and the NEPSAC-B championship while making 52 percent of his field goals, shooting 44 percent on 3-pointers, and hitting at a 78 percent clip from the free throw line.

Durugordon plays for Crown Basketball for AAU, and he is headed to Putnam Science Academy for his final year of high school.  He is not currently ranked in the 247Sports Composite.

Rivals’ national analyst Corey Evans recently gave this assessment of Durugordon:

“Right off the bat, the length and athleticism stand out. He is not a stiff-bodied wing but rather someone that uses his size well in getting places with the ball, finishing at the basket and defending all over in the half-court. The fact that he has made close to 40-percent from behind the 3-point arc and can pass it accurately on the go adds up to what is a super intriguing prospect.

“Durugordon must refine his ball skills and handles in the coming months, but his plethora of tools and size equate to a high-upside recruit.”

Durugordon’s big junior season has led to a lot of new attention during the pandemic.

Georgia, Missouri, VCU, Hofstra, East Carolina and DePaul are among the schools recruiting him the hardest.  He has more than two dozen offers overall, with most coming over the last few months.
