Indiana defeated Iowa by a final score of 89-77 on Thursday night at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Ind.

The final stats three keys to the game and highlights are below.  Indiana (16-8, 6-7) will travel to Michigan for a 1 p.m. tip on Sunday.

    THREE KEYS TO THE GAME

    1. Devonte Green steps up from long range.  Every time it seems like Devonte Green might fall out of the rotation, he steps up in a big way.  The senior captain led Indiana with 27 points on 7-of-11 shooting from three-point range.  Playing in front of his brother Danny, Devonte came off the bench and made an immediate impact in the first half with 18 points before the break.  Overall Indiana shot 11-of-21 from three point range on the night, well above their season average.

    2. Hoosiers get out in transition, offense rolls.  IU ran early and often against the Hawkeyes.  Pushing tempo, the short-handed Hawkeyes seemed to wear down at times.  The Hoosiers had 76 possessions on the night which helped to offset 17 turnovers.  The Hoosiers had 22 fast break points and four scorers in double figures including Green with 27, Trayce Jackson-Davis with 17, Rob Phinisee with 12 and Race Thompson with a career high 10.  Indiana’s 89 points were their most since a 96-90 win over Nebraska in December.

    3. Indiana gets back to foundation.  During its four game losing streak Indiana struggled to get offensive rebounds and get to the foul line.  Those are attributes that carried IU to a 15-4 start.  Against Iowa the Hoosiers got 32 free throw attempts and snared 16 offensive rebounds.  It was the most free throws for IU since a win over Ohio State on Jan. 11, and the most offensive rebounds since a Jan. 8 home win over Northwestern.
