IU baseball and softball combine for 13 final at bat runs in dramatic wins over Nebraska

Nebraska saw enough theatrics from Indiana on the diamond for one day.

In total, IU softball and baseball combined for 13 runs in their final at bats in a pair of dramatic wins over the Cornhuskers.

And both Hoosier wins have significant postseason and conference championship implications.

At the Big Ten softball tournament in Iowa City, the No. 8 seed Hoosiers rallied to force extra innings and exploded for a six-run eighth inning to defeat No. 4 seed Nebraska, 9-5, in the tournament semifinal.

Indiana (40-17) will play for a Big Ten Championship Saturday at 4 p.m. (ET)/3 p.m. (CT) against No. 2 seed Michigan on the Big Ten Network.  The Hoosiers can secure a second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament with a win.

300 miles west on I-80 in Lincoln, the IU baseball team trailed 5-3 going into the top of ninth on Friday evening.

Fighting for a Big Ten regular season title and a spot in the NCAA Tournament, the Hoosiers scored seven runs in their final at bat to take down the Cornhuskers 10-5 in the three-game series opener.

IU hammered Nebraska for six hits, two walks and an error in the ninth inning rally.  That came on the heels of two Nebraska runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Indiana (28-19-1) and Nebraska play Saturday evening at 7:05 p.m. ET and Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. ET.  Both games will air live on BTN.

    How about a 7️⃣-run 9th inning?
