Here are the eight IU basketball players going through Senior Day on Saturday

Saturday marks the final regular season home game for the IU basketball team.

And with that comes the annual tradition of Senior Day, which includes a postgame ceremony where each of the seniors are recognized.

Typically, each senior player and the head coach takes the microphone and addresses the crowd at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.  That’s a tradition that goes back to the Bob Knight era, and it often delivers memorable moments, including this legendary line from Knight:

“When my time on earth is gone, and my activities here have passed, I want they bury me upside down, so my critics can kiss my ass.”

Saturday’s game against Ohio State is a high stakes affair, with both teams fighting for their NCAA Tournament lives.  One way or another, emotions will be running high after the game.

Last year’s ceremony included fireworks following a win over Michigan State, as coach Mike Woodson made a “true fans” remark that upset a portion of the fan base.  And two players — Anthony Leal and Trey Galloway — announced their returns for fifth seasons.

Since his retirement was announced a month ago, Woodson hasn’t done much in the way of media interviews.  Will he even address the crowd on Saturday?  Probably.  And after last year’s theatrics, everyone will be watching to see what the former star player for the Hoosiers and outgoing head coach has to say.

Here are the players and managers IU says will be participating in postgame Senior Day ceremonies following Indiana vs. Ohio State (3:45 p.m. ET, CBS).

    SCHOLARSHIP PLAYERS

    • Oumar Ballo,
    • Trey Galloway,
    • Luke Goode,
    • Langdon Hatton,
    • Anthony Leal

There has been some thought given to Goode playing a fifth season of college basketball.  That’s something he discussed with The Daily Hoosier in April.  Goode would need to be approved for a fifth year via a medical hardship waiver after the season by the NCAA.  His participation in Senior Day would not impact that process.  Several players, including Leal, Galloway and Race Thompson, have participated in the Senior Day ceremony and then returned.

    WALK-ONS

    • Jaden Bobbett
    • Shaan Burke
    • Jackson Creel

MANAGERS:  Sam Couper, Nate Hardy, Boomer Hornbeck, Jacob Lutz, Luke Macklin, Will Matchett, Caden Rautenkranz, Hunter Rice, and Zane Shewmaker.
