IU Athletics announced today that it has completed its transition to cashless payments for all purchases at all IU athletic venues and shops, effective immediately. According to the school, the move to cashless is designed to “improve the pre-game and gameday experiences for all Hoosier fans by reducing the amount of time that fans are waiting in lines, be it at a ticket window, concessions area, or merchandise stores/stands.”…

Former Indiana football linebacker Thomas Allen and women’s basketball guard Ali Patberg were tabbed by the Big Ten Conference as Indiana’s honorees for the Outstanding Sportsmanship Award for the 2021-22 academic year, IU and the Big Ten announced in a release on Tuesday. Allen appeared in eight games during the 2021 season before suffering a season-ending injury. He was named the program’s Ted Verlihay “Mental Attitude” Award. For the 2021-22 season, he averaged 23.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game. He shot 46.8 percent from the field including 37.4 percent from three on 123 attempts, and 71.3 percent from the stripe. Former IU baseball star and current Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber has hit 28 home runs over the last two months of June. According to Jayson Stark of the Athletic, he has the highest June home run rate of any player in the modern era, including second place Babe Ruth. “That’s a pretty cool stat,” Schwarber said in the interview below.
