As interest in Indiana football continues to grow, the IU Athletic Department continues to search for ways to improve the fan experience at Memorial Stadium. The 65-year-old venue has been modified in significant ways through the years.  But what’s next? IU AD Scott Dolson wants fan feedback on that process.  As he did in 2023, he sent an e-mail to fans on Tuesday morning soliciting feedback on the next phase of enhancements. Six IU football players earned AP All-American honors Monday. The headliner is quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who was named to the first team, and was also named the AP national player of the year. Three Hoosiers made the second team:  left tackle Carter Smith, cornerback D’Angelo Ponds, and safety Louis Moore. And two more IU players made the third team:  defensive tackle Tyrique Tucker, and linebacker Aiden Fisher. It’s the second straight year Ponds and Fisher earned All-American nods. The historic rise of IU football under head coach Curt Cignetti reached even greater heights Sunday evening when the program was featured on iconic CBS news magazine show 60 Minutes. What does the full season highlight reel of a Heisman Trophy winner look like? Below is a 25-minute long look at Fernando Mendoza’s 2025 season, from the season-opener against Old Dominion to the Big Ten Championship win over Ohio State. On the season Mendoza completed 71.5% of his throws for 2,980 yards and 33 touchdowns.  He added 240 yards on the ground and six more scores.  On Saturday evening in New York he became the first Indiana player to win the Heisman. In 1989, IU football legend Anthony Thompson was the first Hoosier to be invited to the Heisman Trophy award ceremony. 36 years later Fernando Mendoza is in New York City as the second Indiana invite. Thompson sat down for a brief interview with Rick Pizzo of the Big Ten Network to discuss his Heisman experience, and the emergence of Indiana football under head coach Curt Cignetti.
