Longtime IU basketball assistant coach Ron Felling has passed away. The Illinois high school basketball coaching great worked for 14 years as an assistant coach under IU basketball legend Bob Knight. He was hired by Knight ahead of the 1985-86 season when Jim Crews left his assistant post to take the Evansville job. Felling was part of one national title, four Big Ten titles, and the Hoosiers made an NCAA Tournament appearance every season he was on staff. The IU basketball program has confirmed the addition of Notre Dame transfer point guard Markus Burton. The 6-foot and 190-pound product of Mishawaka, Ind. should have two years of eligibility remaining. Burton is the 30th former Indiana Mr. Basketball to play for the Hoosiers. Most of the members of the 2025-26 IU basketball team who transferred out of the program have found new homes. Wing Nick Dorn is the lone transfer headed to another high major program. He is going to Miami (Fla.). The Hurricanes hope he can make his seven-game stretch that saw him average 13.7 points while shooting 44.6% from three on eight attempts per game closer to the norm. Indiana’s Lamar Wilkerson and Tucker DeVries were invited to the 2026 NBA G League Draft Combine. That’s according to Jonathan Givony of Draft Express. The G League event is May 8-10 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. “We’re moving you down,” IU basketball coach Darian DeVries said in a video targeted to the student body on Friday morning. The program is making changes to the the seating configuration of Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall for the 2026-27 men’s basketball season. The main move involves returning students to the north end bleachers behind the basket. IU football coach Curt Cignetti has said repeatedly his team’s success over the last two years has opened previously locked recruiting doors. No weekend illustrates the point better than this one. There’s probably never been more high school talent in Bloomington than right now. Highlighting the weekend is a trio of 5-stars. Indiana has released the details of the national championship rings the players and coaches will receive following their 16-0 2025 season. The rings feature a stunning amount of detail paying tribute to the perfect season that concluded with a 27-21 over the Miami Hurricanes in Miami, Fla.
