No. 6 IU football suffered its first home loss in the Curt Cignetti era last Saturday to Ohio State, 19-15. The loss dropped the Hoosiers record to 6-1 on the season. The loss also snapped Indiana’s 22-game winning streak, which was the longest running streak in the nation. IU now has a record of 33-3 under Cignetti. The Hoosiers will turn their attention to the Michigan Wolverines, who are coming off a bounce back win over Penn State. The game will be played in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The first AP poll of the 2026-2027 college basketball season was released on Monday afternoon. IU basketball is outside the AP Top 25 to begin the season. However, the Hoosiers received eight votes in the poll. They are effectively No. 36. Indiana’s two exhibition victories, especially their dominant showing against UNC at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, gave fans and voters optimism heading into the season. No. 5/4 IU football narrowly escaped the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 20-17 last Saturday in Lincoln. The victory improved the Hoosiers record to 6-0 on the season. Indiana has now started 6-0 in each of Curt Cignetti’s first three seasons as head coach. The Hoosiers’ 22-game winning streak is the longest active streak in the FBS. Following a dramatic 20-17 win at Nebraska on Saturday, IU football moved up two spots to No. 5 in the AP poll. The Hoosiers received one first place vote in this week’s poll, one of four teams to do so. The four teams ranked ahead of Indiana are, in order: Georgia, Notre Dame, Miami and Ohio State.
