    A look at where former IU basketball players are competing overseas

    Several former IU basketball players are continuing their careers overseas.

    Here is a quick overview of who is still active and where they are playing for the 2021-22 season.

    James Blackmon, Jr. – Turkey:  Blackmon is with Pınar Karşıyaka in the Turkish Super League where he is averaging 9.1 points.  Blackmon, Jr. is a career 40.3 percent 3-point shooter during his 4-year career in Europe that previously included time in Italy.  He first spent time in the G-League after his college career.

    Yogi Ferrell – Slovenia:  After recently parting ways with a Greek club, Ferrell has signed for the rest of the season with KK Cedevita Olimpija, a Slovenian club.  Ferrell, 28, appeared in a total of 259 regular season NBA games from 2016-21 with the Nets, Mavericks, Kings, Cavaliers, and Clippers, and he recently said it was still his goal to get back to league.

    Devonte Green – Greece:  Green is with Larisa BC of the top league in Greece.  He is averaging 11 points in three games thus far.  Green got a look in the NBA Summer League and played with a different Greek team last year.

    Jordan Hulls – Germany:  Hulls is with MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), Germany’s top league.  A starter, he averages 10.4 points and 4.5 assists.  This is Hulls’ sixth year in Germany after previous stints in Belgium and Poland.

    Robert Johnson – Italy:  Johnson is the leading scorer for Acqua S. Bernardo Cantu in the A2 league.  He is currently averaging 19.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists.  He previously played in the G-League, Turkey and Poland.

    Freddie McSwain – North Macedonia:  After stops in the G-League, Canada, Brazil, Austria, and Luxembourg, McSwain is now playing professionally in North Macedonia for Kumanovo.  He is averaging 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds.

    Josh Newkirk – Lithuania:  Newkirk is the starting point guard for Dzukija Alytus where he averages 15.2 points and 4.8 assists in the top Lithuanian league.  He previously played in the Czech Republic and the G-League.

    Noah Vonleh – China:  After a seven-year NBA career that saw him play with seven franchises, Vonleh recently made his debut for the Shanghai Sharks.  He is averaging 14 points and 13.5 rebounds in his first two games in China.

    Troy Williams – Taiwan:  Williams is with a new team in Taiwan (Taoyuan Leopards) in the new T1 League in that country.  Play starts this week.  He previously played three seasons in the NBA/G-League and most recently in Italy.

    Others who have been with teams during the calendar year include Earl Calloway (Qatar), D.J. White (Turkey), Evan Fitzner (Romania), and De’Ron Davis (Cyprus).
