Romeo Dazzles With 63 vs. Jennings Co | IHSAA List Update | Video

Indiana basketball 2018 recruiting target Romeo Langford had a Thursday night game on the road against Jennings County.  The Bulldogs were dominant, winning the game 102-52.  Langford was dominant as well in the win, scoring a career high 63 points to lead the way.

New Albany is rolling, improving to 16-1, on the season.  The Bulldogs are ranked No. 3 in Class 4A, and have now won 13 straight games.

Langford passed two Indiana basketball legends on the IHSAA scoring list on the night — first Rick Mount, and then later in the game Brody Boyd.  Langford is now 4th on the all-time list and would need 482 points to catch all-time scoring leader Damon Bailey.

Here is a summary of Langford’s performance on the season:

As you can see, Langford would need to average 40.2 points over his remaining games and have his team reach the state finals in order to surpass Damon Bailey and become the state’s all-time leading scorer.  On the year thus far Romeo is averaging 35.8 points per game, so the feat appears to be unlikely.  However if Langford can pull a couple more 63 point games out of his hat, you never know.

Here is the current all-time IHSAA boy’s scoring list.  Langford has passed former IU greats James Blackmon Jr. and Alan Henderson in recent weeks.  Up next is Deshaun Thomas, although it would take a while for Langford to catch the former Ohio State Buckeye:

THE INDIANA BOYS ALL-TIME SCORING LIST (IU PLAYERS IN BOLD)

    1. Damon Bailey, 3,134
    2. Marion Pierce, 3,019
    3. Deshaun Thomas, 3,018
    4. Romeo Langford, 2,652
    5. Brody Boyd, 2,632
    6. Rick Mount, 2,595
    7. Trevon Bluiett, 2,568
    8. Cooper Neese, 2,496
    9. Billy Shepherd, 2,465
    10. Alan Henderson, 2,419
    11. James Blackmon, Jr., 2,387
