Indiana men’s basketball opens its season tonight against Florida Gulf Coast at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, and the Hoosiers could get another piece back on the court.
Junior forward Payton Sparks missed Friday’s exhibition game against Marian after suffering a lower body injury during the first exhibition against UIndy. But Sparks is listed as questionable on the Big Ten men’s basketball availability report for the FGCU game, indicating a possibility for his return.
Freshman guard Jakai Newton remains out with a knee injury, and redshirt freshman walk-on Jordan Rayford is out with a lower body injury.
Kaleb Banks missed the UIndy exhibition game but returned to action on Friday, and he is not listed on IU’s injury report, indicating he came out of Friday’s game healthy.
