Indiana Football Picks Up First Class of 2020 Commitment

Indiana head football coach Tom Allen and his coaching staff have carried their in-state recruiting momentum into the class of 2020.

Carmel High School linebacker Ty Wise announced via Twitter that he has committed to IU, becoming the first commit in the Hoosiers’ 2020 class.

Excited and very blessed to announce that I am 100% committed to play football at Indiana University. Thank you @CoachAllenIU @KaneWommack
@CoachHagenIU and the entire @IndianaFootball staff for being the first to believe in me!!! Go Hoosiers🔴⚪️ #LEO pic.twitter.com/iN4Zrrw0OU

    — Ty Wise (@Tywise2020) March 7, 2019

Being the first in the class seems appropriate, as Indiana was the first Division One school to offer Wise.

The 6-foot-2, 210 pound Wise had also received offers from several MAC conference schools including Ball State.  Multiple other Big Ten schools were also showing interest.

As a junior in 2018, Wise totaled 56 solo tackles and 38 assists, while recording eight stops for loss, two sacks and six breakups for the Greyhounds according to Rivals.  The Greyhounds finished the season at 11-3 and reached the state finals.

Wise is a teammate at Carmel with the top rated player in the state of Indiana in the 2020 class.  Defensive tackle Cole Brevard is also an IU target and he intends to take an official visit in May or June according to multiple reports.

2019 IU commit Beau Robbins also attends Carmel.

WHAT THE RECRUITING SERVICES ARE SAYING

Wise is rated as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and a 2-star by Rivals.

He ranks as the No. 8 prospect in the state per the 247Sports Composite.

247Sports ($) on how he projects

     – At 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, he has a solid frame with room to add weight still and reports are that he has been filling out more this off-season. At this point, he is not an elite measureables guy, but he is a good measureables guy with great intangibles.  In Indiana’s defense, he is probably not a “husky” so the most likely spot is MIKE with SAM as a potential spot as well.
