    Hoosiers in the NBA: Stats Through the End of February

    Eight former IU basketball stars are playing at the highest level of the game during the 2018-19 season.  We will be monitoring their seasons with monthly updates.

    Below we summarize their year to date performance with NBA stats through the end of February and provide a brief update on each player.

    OG Anunoby – Toronto

    Anunoby was healthy throughout the month and a regular in the rotation.  He isn’t putting up eye-popping numbers, but he has been slightly more productive than his rookie season and his shooting percentages are on the rise after a slow start.  He participated in the NBA Rising Stars Challenge as part of the All Star weekend.

    MPG – 20.3 (career high)
    Points – 7.1 (career high)
    Rebounds – 3.1 (career high)
    Assists – .7 (ties career high)
    Blocks – .2 (ties career high)
    Steals – .6

    FT% – .452

    Thomas Bryant – Washington

    The story just keeps getting better for Bryant in Washington, as his role continues to expand and his production continues to rise.  His month included a 26 point and 14 rebound game against Milwaukee, and a 23 point and 12 rebound night against Indiana.

    2018-19 YTD Stats:

    Games/Games Started – 51/43

    MPG – 19.3 (career high)
    Points – 9.9 (career high)
    Rebounds – 5.9 (career high)
    Assists – 1.3 (career high)
    Blocks – .8 (career high)
    Steals – .4 (career high)
    FG% – .634 (career high)
    3FG% – .382 (career high)
    FT% – .795 (career high)

    Yogi Ferrell – Sacramento

    Ferrell is a regular in the Kings rotation, and he is shooting the ball overall from the field at his best level during his three years in the league.  His per 36 minutes numbers are impressive, at 14.3 points, 4.9 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game.

    2018-19 YTD Stats:

    Games/Games Started – 51/3

    MPG – 14.7
    Points – 6.0
    Rebounds – 1.6
    Assists – 2.0
    Blocks – .1
    Steals – .5
    FG% – .439 (career high)
    3FG% – .368
    FT% – .872 (career high)

    Eric Gordon – Houston

    Gordon was a regular starter for the month and his numbers held pretty steady from January.  He is currently out with soreness in his knee.

    2018-19 YTD Stats:

    Games/Games Started – 49/34

    MPG – 32.6
    Points – 16.1
    Rebounds – 2.5
    Assists – 2.1
    Blocks – .4
    Steals – .7
    FG% – .390
    3FG% – .320
    FT% – .803

    Victor Oladipo – Indiana

    You know the story by now.  Oladipo’s 2018-19 season has ended after a knee injury on January 23.  He did play long enough to be voted as an NBA All-Star for the second straight season, although he did not of course play in the game.

    2018-19 YTD Stats:

    Games/Games Started – 36/36
    Points – 18.8
    Rebounds – 5.6 (career high)
    Assists – 5.2 (career high)
    Blocks – .3
    Steals – 1.7
    FG% – .423
    3FG% – .343
    FT% – .730

    Noah Vonleh – New York

    Vonleh’s minutes and production took a step back during February but this remains a breakout season for Vonleh in his fifth year in the league.  His per 36 minutes numbers stand at a double double with 11.8 points and 11.3 rebounds.  He came off the bench some in February, but he finished the month with a start on Thursday night and scored 16 points and added 10 rebounds.

    2018-19 YTD Stats:

    Games/Games Started -62/51

    MPG – 25.2 (career high)
    Points – 8.2 (career high)
    Rebounds – 7.9 (career high)
    Assists – 1.9 (career high)
    Blocks – .8 (career high)
    Steals – .7 (career high)
    FG% – .462
    3FG% – .336
    FT% – .710

    Troy Williams – Sacramento

    Williams was with the Kings’ G-League affiliate in Stockton for the month of February.  He is averaging 18.5 points and 7 rebounds per game there.

    2018-19 YTD Stats:

    Games/Games Started – 18/0

    MPG – 15.9
    Points – 5.7
    Rebounds – 3.1 (career high)
    Assists – .6
    Blocks – .4 (career high)
    Steals – .6
    FG% – .460
    3FG% – .341 (career high)
    FT% – .600

    Cody Zeller – Charlotte

    Zeller returned from a fractured right hand with a vengeance and is now putting up career best numbers in several categories in his sixth year in the league.  He has scored in double figures in seven straight games and put up a career best 28 points (on 13 of 14 shooting) and 9 rebounds against Golden State.

    2018-19 YTD Stats:

    Games/Games Started – 44/42

    MPG – 25.5
    Points – 10.2
    Rebounds – 6.9 (career high)
    Assists – 2.1 (career high)
    Blocks – .9 (ties career high)
    Steals – .8 (ties career high)
    FG% – .565
    3FG% – .250
    FT% – .805 (career high)
