Indiana University has announced the date for the annual Hoosier Hysteria event that marks the tipoff for the 2018-19 men’s and women’s basketball season.

The event will occur on September 29 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.  That’s 74 days if you are keeping track at home.

    Mark your calendars!

Hoosier Hysteria pres. by Smithville Fiber will take place Sept. 29 (time TBA).

The date is earlier than the mid-October timing that most Hoosier fans are accustomed to.  Recent NCAA rule changes permit practice to now begin 42 days prior to the first scheduled game.  This should mean that IU’s first game is right around Friday, November 9.

Here is the full release from Indiana:

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana –  Hoosier Hysteria presented by Smithville Fiber, the official tipoff for the 2018-19 Indiana basketball season, will be held on Saturday, September 29 in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. An official starting time will be released at a later date.

The event will feature both the men’s and women’s basketball programs and is free of charge.

Men’s coach Archie Miller begins his second year with the Hoosiers and welcomes the No. 7 recruiting class in the country this fall.  Women’s coach Teri Moren begins her fifth season on the Bloomington campus.  In 2017-18, IU won the WNIT Championship, winning 15 of its last 17 games.
