Stop us if you have heard this one before.  Indiana just needs to get a win. Trouble is, so does Minnesota.  While Indiana has lost 9 of 10, the Gophers have lost 7 of 11.  Neither team can afford another loss at this time of year — but someone will be walking off the Williams Arena floor on Saturday afternoon with just that. IU is still firmly in the NCAA Tournament hunt, and a win over Minnesota would provide another quality win to further bolster that resume. But it won’t be easy.  The Gophers have lost just twice all year…

After losing 9 of 10 games and sitting at 13-11 overall and 4-9 in Big Ten play, you may scoff at the idea that Indiana is still in the running for an at large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Strange as it may seem, the Hoosiers are indeed on the NCAA bubble as it stands right now.  According to ESPN analyst Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology, Indiana is listed as part of the “last four IN.” How is that possible, you ask? The parallel for Indiana is last year’s Oklahoma team that at one point was a top 10 team but…

Jackson-Davis’ Center Grove team currently stands at 14-7 with three games remaining in the regular season.  Playing in the highly challenging Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference (“MIC”), the Trojans face the best competition in the state, with a schedule full of future division one athletes. The 6-foot-9 forward…

His name has been out there for months as a possibility, but there had been no offer. That changed today as Indiana offered class of 2019 combo guard Harlond Beverly as it looks to continue to expand on its next incoming group of recruits. Adam Zagoria broke the news via Twitter: https://twitter.com/AdamZagoria/status/1095689204212862976 This latest offer provides further evidence that Indiana is pursuing a recruiting class of more than its current allotted scholarships.  Earlier this week we shared the news that IU was in the “top seven” of Lester Quinones, another 2019 guard. While Quinones appears to be more of a…

Not that long ago I came across this profile of a former Indiana University basketball player: No. 8 all-time scoring list No. 5 all-time in assists No. 10 all-time steals Tied for the most all-time wins 43.7% career three-point shooter Big Ten Freshman of the Year First team All-Big Ten IU Hall of Fame Legendary, right?  Of course it is. Believe it or not, there was a time when I managed to convince myself that this IU basketball career was a bit of a disappointment. That’s the thing about hype.  When it reaches mania levels, expectations become unhinged from reality.…

Ordinarily we would tell you to not overly concern yourself with the starting lineup. In general, it’s often merely a suggestion, and doesn’t necessarily reflect what is to come throughout the game. But then there is this: vs. Ohio State:  11-2 vs. Iowa:  9-2 vs. Michigan:  20-2 at Purdue:  11-2 vs. Nebraska:  26-9 at Michigan:  30-13 vs. Illinois: 25-15 at Penn State: 9-0 Those are Indiana’s starts to 8 of their 13 Big Ten contests thus far. To be sure, there were a couple good starts to games interspersed in that mess.  But those bad starts should happen once or…
