REVIEWING THE FLORIDA TRIP
The Hoosiers got out to a 4-1 lead after 4 innings against conference foe Rutgers and then held on to survive a rally by the Scarlet Knights. The Hoosiers got big production at the top of the lineup as Logan Kaletha scored 3 times, Matt Lloyd had 3 hits and Luke Miller drove in 2. Ryan Fineman also delivered 2 hits on the day.
IU starter Jonathan Stiever struck out six in 5 2/3. Cal Krueger was credited with the win as he and Brian Hobbie closed out the last 3 1/3 without giving up an earned run.
Hoosier starter Pauly Milto delivered his second dominant outing of the season with a complete game shutout. The junior right-hander from Indianapolis Roncalli High School has now pitched 15 shutout innings to start the season. For his efforts, Milto was named the Big Ten’s pitcher of the week on Monday.
Four different Hoosiers delivered at least two hits including Matt Lloyd, Luke Miller, Logan Sowers, and Matt Gorski. Lloyd doubled and homered on the day.
After two Chicago State first inning runs it was all Hoosiers the rest of the way. Home runs by Logan Kaletha, Luke Miller and Scotty Bradley led the way. Miller’s bomb was a two run shot to left that brought home Matt Lloyd in the bottom of the 3rd and gave IU the lead for good.
Three Chicago State errors combined with a balk, three hit batters and a wild pitch helped as well, as the Hoosiers were able to push across three unearned runs.
Five different Hoosier pitchers provided seven innings of shutout relief.

GOING TO CALIFORNIA
Up next for the Hoosiers is a west coast road trip as they will play a four game series at the University of San Diego beginning on Friday. It should be a challenging series for IU as the Toreros are ranked No. 13 in the Collegiate Baseball Div. 1 Poll. San Diego went 5-0 this past week and have won six straight overall.
